Privacy Policy

Last updated:

TL;DR — PDFinsert processes everything directly in your browser. When you use cloud integrations, files are fetched directly to your device for processing. We never upload, permanently store, or retain access to any of your documents.

1. What we do (and don’t do)

PDFinsert is a collection of free online PDF tools that run entirely in your web browser. All processing (merge, split, compress, convert, protect, etc.) happens locally on your device using JavaScript.

We never upload your files to our servers.

2. Files & Documents

  • Your PDF files stay on your computer at all times during processing.
  • Nothing is transmitted to our servers or any third party for storage.
  • When you close the browser tab, all temporary data is automatically discarded.
  • We have zero ability to see, store, or recover your documents.

3. Cloud Storage Integrations (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive)

To provide a seamless experience, we offer optional integrations with third-party cloud storage providers. If you choose to use them, the following applies:

  • Limited Access: We only request the minimum permissions necessary (e.g., “read-only” access) to allow you to select and download your own PDF files.
  • No Permanent Storage: Files selected from your cloud storage are downloaded directly to your browser’s memory for local processing. They are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
  • Secure Authentication: We use standard, secure OAuth 2.0 protocols. We receive a temporary access token only for the duration of your session to fetch the file. We do not store your cloud account passwords or long-term access to your account.
  • User Control: You can revoke PDFinsert’s access to your cloud account at any time through your Google, Dropbox, or Microsoft account security settings.

4. Information we collect

We collect limited information:

  • No accounts — you don’t need to sign up or log in to use the tools.
  • No file content — we never receive or store your PDFs. All processing happens locally in your browser.
  • No personal data required — we don’t ask for your name, email, or any identifying information to use the tools.
  • Website analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand general traffic, page views, and how visitors use the site. This data is aggregated and does not include the content of your PDF files.

5. Cookies

PDFinsert uses a limited number of cookies:

  • Essential / technical cookies — required for the website to function properly.
  • Analytics cookies — used by Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site.
  • Advertising cookies — if Google AdSense is active, Google may set cookies to show relevant ads and measure ad performance.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

6. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Drive API — used solely to authenticate and fetch PDF files you explicitly select.
  • Dropbox Chooser API — used solely to fetch PDF files you explicitly select.
  • Microsoft OneDrive — used solely to fetch PDF files you explicitly select (if enabled).
  • Google Analytics 4 — to collect anonymized website traffic and usage statistics.
  • Google AdSense — to display advertisements.

Your PDF files are never sent to any of these services for storage or analysis. File processing remains 100% local in your browser.
