Compress PDF Files

Upload your PDF by dragging it, clicking the upload area, or importing it from Google Drive or Dropbox. Then choose between “Preserve text” or “Maximum compression”, select a quality level if needed, and click Compress PDF. Your smaller file will be ready to download in a few seconds.

Click the Google Drive button in the upload area. Sign in to your Google account and grant permission to view your files. Select the PDF you want and it will appear ready to compress.

Click the Dropbox button in the upload area. Sign in to your Dropbox account if needed and allow access. Choose the PDF file and it will be added so you can compress it immediately.

You only need to sign in to your existing Google or Dropbox account when importing files. No extra account is required on our side, and you can still upload files from your device without logging in.

When you choose Maximum compression, you can select one of three quality levels:

• Basic Light compression. Images stay sharp. Good for moderate size reduction.
• Recommended Best balance between size and quality. Default for most documents.
• Extreme Smallest file size. Images may look slightly softer, but text stays readable.

After compression you see original size, new size, and percentage saved.

Preserve text keeps text selectable and searchable. Size reduction is usually moderate.

Maximum compression turns pages into compressed images for much smaller files, especially scanned PDFs. Text is usually no longer selectable.

It depends on the content:

• Text-heavy PDFs: often 10–40% smaller with Preserve text
• Scanned or image-heavy PDFs: often 50–85% smaller with Maximum compression
• Already optimized PDFs: may shrink only a little

With Preserve text, quality loss is minimal. With Maximum compression, quality depends on the level (Basic, Recommended, or Extreme).

No. Compression runs 100% in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device — including files imported from Google Drive or Dropbox.

No. Currently you can only compress one PDF at a time. If you have several files, simply compress them one by one.

Not directly. You need to unlock the PDF first and then upload or import it. Once the password is removed, you can compress it normally.

Most files compress in a few seconds. You see the new size right away, then download when ready. No queues or server wait times.

We recommend keeping files under 50 MB for the best experience. Larger files can still work on desktop, but may be slower on mobile.

Yes. It works on modern mobile browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) on Android and iOS. For very large PDFs, a computer is usually faster.

Some PDFs are already optimized. For a bigger reduction, try Maximum compression, especially on scanned or image-heavy files.
